Overview


The Sell Limit rule safeguards against overselling by automatically pausing sales for rate plans that reach a predetermined booking threshold. It eliminates the risks of overselling a particular offer. You can set on the Total Sell Limit level or Channel Sell Limit level.


Benefits of Sell Limit

  • Prevention of Overselling: Sell Limit acts as a safeguard against the risk of selling more rooms than are available. By automatically pausing sales once a set booking threshold is reached, it ensures that the hotel does not overcommit its inventory, thus maintaining operational integrity and guest satisfaction.
  • Enhanced Revenue Management: By allowing managers to set Total Sell Limit or Channel Sell Limit levels, Sell Limit helps in optimizing revenue. It enables hotels to control the distribution of rooms across different channels and rate plans, ensuring that the most profitable bookings are prioritized.
  • Operational Efficiency: With Sell Limit, hotel staff can focus on guest service rather than constantly monitoring room availability. The automated nature of the feature reduces the administrative burden and the potential for human error in managing room sales.

Quick Update

  1. Go to Main Calendar
  2. Choose Main Calendar Tab
  3. Filter by Sell Limit
  4. Select the specific rate plan where you want to apply the rule, you can select a rate plan with all room types or a specific room type. Click on the Channel Sell Limit to apply for a quick update. You will see a Quick pop-up window as shown


  1. Quick Update pop-up window comes out.
  2. Enter an Sell Limit number, when the channel's sales volume for that date exceeds this amount, the selected rate-plan will be withdrawn from sale. Please notice only value greater than 0 is accepted
  3. Click apply to set the rule. You can remove your sell limit using the same path.


Bulk Update

On the Main Calendar, select Bulk Update and click on Sell Limit

Select your desired rate plan and click [NEXT]

Next, you can select date range by Today, Next 7/14/30 Days or a Custom date range.

Once you select the date range, continue with the option of Everyday or Weekday/Weekend/Day of Weel, then click [NEXT]

Once done, you can update your desired Sell Limit before clicking [Update]

Only value greater than 0 is accepted

You can confirm your Total Sell Limit by going back to Calendar > Sell Limit


You can also validate your Channel Sell Limit.


If a booking request is submitted after the Sell Limit has been attained, the system will automatically decline the booking with the error message "availability roomRate is not found".
