Overview

Room type represents the accommodation type available to your guests, you've learnt how to add a new room type. However, understanding your room type occupancy setup is essential, especially the configuration must align with both your Property Management System (PMS) and your channel management settings.

Max Occupancy, Max Adults, Max Child settings are used to define the maximum number of individuals that may occupy rooms of this room type. Please see the following rules:

  • Max Occupancy should be greater than or equal to Max Adult, and cannot be 0.
  • Maximum Adult cannot be 0.
  • Maximum Child should be less than or equal to Maximum Occupancy

The system will never allow the total number of guests on a reservation to exceed the number in the Maximum Occupancy field. Below are the possible combinations for the above configuration:

Max OccupancyMax AdultMax Child
equal to 330
equal to 321
less than 320
equal to 312
less than 311
less than 310

To ensure seamless operation, it is crucial that your Property Connector occupancy configuration aligns with both your Property Management System (PMS) setup and your channel management settings. Discrepancies in these can lead to "PMS Delivery Failed Error", or Channel ARI push error, which may disrupt your booking processes. Therefore maintaining consistency across all platforms is essential to prevent such issues.

PMS Delivery Failed Error Example:

This example described when there is a mismatch in the maximum occupancy settings between your channel and Property Connector. If your channel setup permits a maximum occupancy of 4 guests per room, but your Property Connector setting only allows for 3, this inconsistency prevents reservation deliveries, resulting in an "availability roomRate is not found" error.

Channel exception list alarm

Derbysoft Technical Support team is proactively monitoring the availability, rate and inventory (ARI) push to channels. When there is a configuration discrepancy the following sample error message will be generated for internal follow up with property users.

"OCCUPANCY_EXCEEDS_MAX_PERSONS: Room "Channel Room Code" has a maximum occupancy of '2'. You cannot set price for higher occupancy for rate 'Channel Rate Code'. OCCUPANCY_EXXCEEDS_MAX_PERSONS"

We will send you an email alert to review your room type setting.

By constantly reviewing and auditing this, you can enhance the reservation process's reliability, preventing occupancy-related delivery failures and improving guest experience.
