Introduction
Offset is the additional calculation / adjustment that is applied to rates before they are sent to a channel, or channel reservation delivered to your Property Management System (PMS). For when do you need to set up an offset, please refer to Offset Overview.
We offer four types of offset, which can be customized based on your operational needs. The one with higher priority always override the lower ranking:
- Offset on a Product (Channel Room Rate)
- Offset on a Room Type
- Offset on a Rate Plan
- Offset on a Channel
Please refer to How to Add the Offsets on the Rates for more details.
What does an offset rule look like?
1) Name of the room rate (Room Type + Rate plan)
2) Calculation on rates to channels
3) Calculation on rates on bookings
4) 'Apply to' Button. Click the button to apply the same rule to the selected room rates for this channel.
5) 'Copy from' Button. Click the button to copy the same rule from one other room rates to this one.
Calculation on rates to channels
Calculation rules that you can set up for the rates push to channels.
1) Offset by
What calculation you would like to do on the rates? You can select from one of the options:
- Percentage then Fixed
- Fixed then Percentage
- Percentage
- Fixed
2) Calculation rules
For Percentage offset, you can do Plus, Minus, Multiplier, or Division
For Fixed amount offset, you can do Plus or Minus on a flat fee, or a per person charge. Please refer to Rates to Channel Example - Fixed Offset by Flat or Per Person
3) Rounding
For now, we are providing 4 types of rounding:
- Up: Rounding Up
- Down: Round Down
- Standard: Rounding to the nearest
- Rounding to the nearest hundredth
4) Advanced setting
If you would like to set up add-ons on the rates for each occupancy (1 pax, 2 pax...) with a different value, you can check the checkbox to enable the feature "Enable Advanced Setting".
By default, there will be up to 4 adults that you can set the additional charges for. You can click 'Add' to add more number of adults for the addon setting.
Rates to Channel Example - Fixed Offset by Flat or Per Person
Base Rate | Amount to add | Flat or Per Person | Rate to channel for 1 pax | Rate to channel for 2 pax | Rate to channel for 3 pax |
$1000 | $80 | Flat | $1080 | $1080 | $1080 |
$1000 | $80 | Per Person | $1080 | $1160 | $1240 |
Calculation on rates on bookings (for users connected to PMS)
Same as the calculation on rates to channels, you can also set up calculation rules for the rates to reservations sent to your Property Management System (PMS), and the Daily Rates displayed on the Email Notification.
Apply Same Rule to Reservations
'Apply Same Rule to Reservations' allows the same offset rule to apply to the reservations in a revert way.
For example, you have set up a fixed additional charge to add $160 to the rates to channels. When you mark the 'Apply Same Rule to Reservations' checkbox, rates on the bookings will be deducted by $160 sending to your Property Management System (PMS).
Rates to Channel Example - Commission Calculation
Sell Rate | 15% Commission | Net Rate to Channel | Apply same rule to Reservations | Rates to Reservation |
1000 | x 85% | 850 | Yes | 850 |
1000 | x 85% | 850 | No | 1000 |
If you expect to receive a value of $850 in your reservation, please mark 'Apply Same Rule to Reservations'. The system will do a revert calculation when sending the reservation to your Property Management System (PMS).
On the other hand, if you expect to receive a value of $1000 (the original rate in the Property Connector) on your reservation, you are not required to mark this option.
Add Specific Date Offset
'Add Specific Date Offset' provides flexibility allowing you to set a different offset tule for a specific date range.
1) Date period when the offset calculation applied to
2) Days of week when the offset calculation applied to
3) Rule details similar to the Calculation on rates to channels
